The Israeli Parliament’s has passed a landmark bill declaring UNRWA a terrorist organization, marking a significant step in boosting national security and addressing regional concerns.

The news agency stated that the bill will be brought before the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee following parliamentary approval. Relations between the Israeli government and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides health and education services to Palestinians in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria, have never been good. But since October 7, tensions have increased much further as a result of Israel’s war in Gaza. UNRWA spokesman Juliette Touma responded to the Israeli parliament’s action by saying that it is an additional attempt as part of a larger push to close the agency, which has never before happened in UN history.
In an effort to prevent the international world from supporting the plan to close down UNRWA, both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority vehemently denounced the Israeli parliament’s designation of UNRWA as a terrorist organization.
